Sources & methodology
Trust should be visible.
Noor Quran keeps Quran text, translations, tafsir, recitation, and personal notes in clearly separated trust domains.
Quran Arabic
Quran text is packaged as an immutable, versioned edition. Noor Quran verifies its identity, byte size, SHA-256 fingerprint, structure, Surah coverage, and ayah count before opening it.
If those checks cannot complete, the reader shows no substitute text.
Surah and navigation metadata
Names, numbering, Juz, and page navigation are stored separately from Quran wording. Navigation metadata can help you find a location, but it is never treated as a source for Quran text.
Translations and tafsir
Every translation and tafsir edition must carry its own source attribution and language identity. Footnotes remain separate from translation wording, and Noor Quran does not silently blend commentary into Quran text.
When an edition is unavailable, the reader hides its selector instead of offering an unverified replacement.
Recitation
Each recitation identifies the reciter, riwayah, edition, and provider. Streaming and offline-download permissions are evaluated separately because public playback does not automatically grant redistribution rights.
Offline files are checked against their expected source information before playback wherever a source fingerprint is available.
Search
Structural search covers Surahs, ayah references, Juz, pages, and Noor Quran features. Search results always display the stored source wording; comparison-only normalization never rewrites displayed Quran text.
Your notes, collections, bookmarks, and recent searches remain on your device unless you choose account backup.
Offline reading and privacy
Reading progress, bookmarks, goals, and reader settings are designed to work locally. Account sessions use renewable credentials without storing a long-lived access token in browser local storage.
Temporary connectivity failures do not erase the mobile session or queued Library changes. Sync retries after connectivity returns.
Noor Essentials
Qibla uses a great-circle bearing to the Kaaba reference at 21.422487° N, 39.826206° E. Prayer times use deterministic solar calculations, your chosen calculation profile, timezone, Asr rule, high-latitude rule, and visible adjustments.
Hijri dates are offline civil estimates with a local adjustment. They do not replace trusted local moon-sighting announcements. Location, compass, prayer, and reminder data stay device-local by default.
